I didn't know I needed this until I saw it LOL. I love Cartman, but sometimes he just needs his head shoved into some spaghetti. Is that spaghetti? Ima call it that. Also, Kyle's face is the best <3 And Kenny's actually. Like Kyle's fucking pissed, but Kenny's just kind of done with Cartman's shit.
Hahahaha!!! This is hilaous. It's about time both Kyle and Kenny paid Cartman back for all the times he ripped on both of them. Love the expressions on the faces of the three boys who aren't currently facedown in a plate of spagetti.
That's an interesting viewpoint, but we see characters differently I suppose. It just seemed a little overdramatic to me, but then again I'm a person who doesn't show a lot of emotion. lol I think you did a great job with the other three, I love them! I could take lessons from you. Haha. I suck at drawing details.
Stan is very, very dramatic- additionally- hes the only one who doesnt go out of his way to harass Eric. Mostly, he backs up Kyle- but Eric has to do something really bad for Stan to get mad on his own (without Kyle being mad) and there a lot of scenes throughout the years- when Eric and Stan are together WITHOUT Kyle in the same scene.....they never fight....sooooo its in my opinion that Eric is in their group because Stan IS his friend...because for a while there- I know Kyle and Kenny wouldnt want to hang out with Eric on his own. Stan is the one that keeps them all together.
Stan has a REALLY squeamish stomach- and thats kind of disgusting to watch.
I think we just see him differently. I think he's a rough little temperamental boy who has drive and initiative, but he tends to choose the more violent ways to do something, such as breaking and entering, getting arrested, etc. Stan stands up for himself for the most part, but he can be an idiot when he turns his back on his friends. He's bossy and selfish so I can't see him being shy or overdramatic because people would walk all over him. He does argue with Cartman quite often, actually, it's just that Kyle and Cartman are so rashly trying to get at each others throats that it makes Kenny and Stan seem peaceful, but Stan does snap and get very unfair with people, like Thad. He would be an IDIOT if he allowed things to scare him in that town, since it seems to be very survival of the fittest with the boys. He's seen so many people get bullied that the last thing that would scare him is someone getting pushed, in my opinion. Maybe if someone held a gun, but that would probably scare all the boys equally. I dunno, if he were scared of everything and whined and blushed constantly he would be a very boring character.
Ohh you don't have to lecture me about Stan's more aggressive quirks- I totally agree with you with..actually all of that- as I see all of it- and I was not saying Stan doesnt harass Cartman- obviously he does- but whats interesting is 7 times out of 10- Cartman will LISTEN to Stan. He'll be pouty about it-- but he either goes off on his own to be a dick...and always comes back (and Stan always lets him come back) or he'll whine and go with what Stan says.
He would. NEVER.EVER.EVER submit to Kyle like that...or Kenny for that matter- so yeah. Erics a dick and Stan very easily stands his ground, but when it comes full circle, I dont believe for a second that Kyle and Kenny would hang around Eric if Stan didn't. He's the link that binds them. He's Eric's friend..and Kenny's friend and (obviously) Kyle's friend...and I feel that Kyle and Kenny are only close because they've been through a lot and well they became friends-- and that's KIND OF whats starting to happen between Eric and Kyle (yay) but really in a different way. So even if he would never admit it- I truly believe that if Eric respects any of them- it's Stan. Also- if anything really bad happens to Eric- Stan is ALWAYS the first one to be upset about it- even in the slightest- even if its just a passing comment - even if its a roll of his eyes- hes always the one to care (one that clenches my heart the most was when Eric destroyed all his stuffed animals at Token's house- and everybody was SHOCKED...Stan was too- but he was mostly just sad- you could see it in eyes and you could hear it in his voice)...hes the one that backs Eric up (even if its only a little passing comment in his defence. (usually) Stan plays Devil's advocate....not just to Eric but a lot of them really- Im not saying him and Eric are besties- but I am saying of the three- Eric and Stan get a long the easiest (nobody can deny this, lol)
And then you're right. Stan VERY much has a justice complex- almost to the point of it being ridiculous. Hes extremely self righteous. To balance him out, KYLE has a guilty complex and has a hard time letting things go. Together- Kyle's guilt, combined with Stan being vindictive...is really the back bone of the show- or at least way under the surface, thats how it started.
But on the flip side, Stan is the one most sensitive out of all of them (which is VERY different from being shy and scared- on that note being squeamish is very different from being easily scared) and if you think he is not overly dramatic...the episodes and scenes I could list where he has been would be so ridiculously long I might as well tell you to go re watch all 239 episodes- he wouldnt have such a justice complex if he wasn't. He's only one who's truly been in love and lost it- he freaks out when any animals are in danger (which is why Woodland Critter Christmas is one of my fav episodes ever)- Two Days Before The Day after Tomorrow is the best example off the top of my head for both.."Oh God I hope we didn't hurt any beavers!"...oh wait... when he turned goth and god..so many others. He is melodramatic - or at least he can be.
He gets along with Eric when its just them. He gets along with Kyle (duh) when its just them. And he gets along with Kenny when its just them. Out of the four, Stan's the one that splits between them. Kyle and Kenny sometimes and eaarrlly in the series Kyle and Eric (but that ended pretty quick as Kenny became his own character).
And honestly- Stan HAS been the bully himself.
He's not afraid of everything and if that's how you're percieving this peice then you havn't gone through the rest of K's gallery because ALL of her boys and so amazingly IN CHARACTER its blows me away. Why? Because she captures the part of the characters that you have to really for in the show to see. Read between the lines. Yeah Stan is all of things you mentioned at face value, but for Christ's sake to say he isn't over dramatic preettttyyyy dis credited everything else. Are we even watching the same show here? Have you seen the series in its entirety? More than once? Have you been watching since 1997 and can remember the premiere of the pilot? I am not being grandiose, and Im not trying to come off as that I know everything or snobby or something.... it's just.. I don't know- I have been with this series since day one- I was 12 years old and I grew up with these characters as they did and I saw how they developed and where as, YES what I LOVE ABOUT these characters is that THEY ARE SO DIVERSE they feel like REAL people- and as such anybody can have their own interpretation of them and it wouldn't be necessarily wrong even if they were contradicting. These characters have been around SO LONG and are SO REAL that anybody, ANYBODY can relate to them in some way or another.
And again, I agreed with most everything you said- but to say that something as simple as a quick scene (which is in mid action by the way- maybe he's just startled for like not even half a second- I would be- and then he's probably going to get pissed)
Look, I think you need to chill out for a second and step back to understand that I told OP that I actually very much liked this piece and even I could take lessons. But for you to ask such a strange question as to if I've ever watched the series when I obviously have and know all about the boys, you need to accept that I agree to disagree with OP's opinions... And yours. If you think that they are amazingly in character than so be it, but I wasn't bashing anyone. I was stating my opinion, not lecturing. If I were lecturing you, I would write you a message just as long or longer than the one you've just written to me. I respect yours and everyone else's opinions. I have been watching this show as a child as well, but this is absolutely absurd to even COMPARE how long we've been watching the series because that doesn't even matter. That's like saying, "If someone starts late, then they're not a real fan." So I'm not even going to go there. I could ask you the same question, if we're even watching the same show. And if you call Stan melodramatic, then that means they all are... Probably with the exception of Kenny. Eric throws temper tantrums whenever he doesn't get his way, whether it be angry or sobbing, and Kyle will literally almost pop a blood vessel every single time he hears Eric speak or someone who doesn't completely agree with him. How they act or how they are held together is up to the interpretation of the viewer. And yeah, we're watching the same show. I'm sure we could talk about it until our fingers fall off but we're not going to agree so I'm not going to debate on this piece of art. If you want to debate with me, note me or something.
And when I said that Stan was acting melodramatic, that really IS how I see it. I figured that was how OP wanted this to be. It seemed out of character to me, so I figured that Stan was being dramaticized. I still think OP did absolutely fantastic and I could not have done better, but I just would have drawn Stan differently. No big deal. No harm done, and certainly no feelings hurt. I bet you and OP would disagree with every piece of Stan art I have in my folder, and that's YOUR opinion. So, yeah.
